Making A Difference
Westchester Arc Finds Important Volunteer Work Throughout Our Communities
| From left: James Singletary; Mary Regan; and Westchester Arc Job Coach, Sandra Woods, assist in preparing trays of meals at The Sharing Community. |
The Sharing Community, Inc. is a multi-service community-based organization located in Yonkers, New York. Currently the center operates over 18 programs that provide care to the homeless, hungry and ill residents in the area.
Four Westchester Arc consumers volunteer several days a week at the center. |
| Between 175 to 225 meals are prepared daily at the center. Food is donated by local businesses and organizations. |
| Stew Leonard’s in Yonkers is another location where Westchester Arc makes a difference through voluntary efforts. Labeling bakery items is just one of the tasks Westchester Arc individuals assist with at the famous store. |
An employment relationship was formed with Stew Leonard’s under the direction of Westchester Arc’s Steve DeMarco, Director of Corporate and Government Relations. From left, Joe Parente, Stew Leonard, Councilman John Larken, Westchester Arc Job Coaches Lisa Arlotta and Laila Braun, Doug Hempstead and Jim Botello take a break for a photo with Michael Clark (seated) during a very busy day at the store. |
