Brainstorming ideas for the big show.

Echo Onstage Extends Its Curtain Call

Fifteen young adults with developmental disabilities garnered a standing ovation during the grand finale of Westchester Arc’s Echo Onstage, held
June 24-29 at Westchester Community College.

Song and dance numbers wow the audience.

Now in its fourth year, Echo Onstage
is a musical theater workshop sponsored by the agency’s
recreational services in partnership
with Westco Productions, the county’s premier theater company for young audiences. Attendees channeled their inner Broadway superstar, role-playing and choreographing dance numbers, which enhanced self-esteem, muscle tone, memory retention and social skills.

This year’s theme was “Summertime Fun.” Performers sang and danced to music ranging from selections from The Little Mermaid to Justin Timberlake’s “Summer Love.” They also donned tropical shirts and bathing suits, danced with hula hoops and reenacted a day at the beach.

Richard E. has attended Echo Onstage since its inception. “I like singing and dancing. People clap. That makes me feel good,” he says.
