Yonkers Day Hab Teaches Life Skills

Consumers learned how to cook, manage money, and work as a team through an activity based on TV show, “The Iron Chef”. The activity’s theme was bananas. Participants worked with staff to research recipes and prepare dishes like:

Banana Crepes  -  Banana Smoothies 
Banana Walnut Bread  -  Banana Chimichangas

“I am having so much fun, I feel like a cook in a restaurant,” said participant Gary C.

Michelle Amendola, treatment coordinator, organized the event. She also provided chef hats, aprons, and cookbooks.

“This was a great activity,” comments Program Director Avery Vallins. “Consumers got to be creative and had a lot of fun, while learning valuable life skills”
