Westchester Arc Welcomes Residents Home

Six people living in a quiet Cortlandt Manor neighborhood share a home provided through Westchester Arc’s residential services.

They enjoy a large living room, dining room, three bedrooms and have the convenience of 24-hour staff.

For some, this is  the first time they have lived apart from relatives. “Moving away from family can be hard, but I think our residents really feel at home here,” says Residence Manager Michael Swann. “The staff was great about helping everyone get to know each other through group meals and social activities. Residents who were shy at first have really opened up and become a vital part of the house.”

“Some people may have a misconception about living near a group residence,” says Michael, “but our residents have jobs, are active in community events and respect our neighbors. Our home is like any other, yet special in its own way.”
