Speech Therapy

Speech therapy teaches individuals with developmental disabilities to communicate their needs through verbal or non-verbal means—such as pointing or gesturing— enabling them to become better at understanding others, as well as expressing themselves.

State-licensed speech pathologists use articulation therapy (teaching a person how to make certain sounds), language intervention activities (using books and physical objects to stimulate language development) and other highly effective techniques to help individuals with:

  • speech disorders
    (problems with production of sounds)

  • language disorders
(difficulty understanding words or putting them together to communicate ideas)

  • swallowing disorders
    (trouble ingesting food and liquids)

  • hearing impairments

  • cleft palate

  • respiratory issues

Therapy will vary according to a person’s needs and may include individual and group sessions.
