Dr. Angelina Okoli focuses on quality healthcare in Westchester Arc residences.
Dr. Angelina Okoli, a medical professional with over 20 years of experience, has joined Westchester Arc’s residential services in the role of clinical director/nursing supervisor. The position was created to oversee, coordinate and supervise nursing and healthcare services provided in the agency’s residences. In this position she supervises and provides training to registered nurses and other staff and is an agency-wide resource regarding healthcare.
One of her initial projects was the successful opening of the agency’s first residence for individuals requiring medically enhanced services—Decatur House in Mohegan Lake. In that capacity, Dr. Okoli ensured that regulatory requirements for the program were met and that direct support staff were trained to address the complex healthcare needs of the individuals living in the home. This included training staff in such areas as administering tube feedings and oxygen, colostomy and catheter care, use of suctioning equipment and wound care.
She also supervises nurses working in the agency’s other 43 residences, monitoring diet, administration of medication and wellness regimens.
In addition, Dr. Okoli provides administrative oversight to clinical team leaders and program directors at five agency residences that serve medically involved individuals—Decatur, Dobbs Ferry, Inverness, Bryant II and V.
Prior to coming to Westchester Arc, she was a full-time faculty member at Howard University’s Division of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She is a registered nurse and midwife, with a master’s degree in nursing science and a Ph.D. in Christian philosophy and divinity.
“I really enjoy working at Westchester Arc,” she says.” This agency is truly committed to providing individuals with developmental disabilities with the best possible care and I am proud to help in any way I can.”
