Conroy Elected NYSARC President

WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK — November 13, 2006 — Katharine Wilson Conroy, daughter of the late Governor Malcolm Wilson, has been elected president of NYSARC, the largest non-profit agency in the nation serving individuals with developmental disabilities. She is currently president of the Westchester Arc Foundation.Westchester Arc is a local chapter of NYSARC.
As president of the Westchester Arc Foundation, Conroy has created a Fund for the Future—totaling over $600,000 to date—to help ensure long-term financial stability for Westchester Arc. Over the years, she has also served Westchester Arc as treasurer, board member and guardianship committee chair. In addition, she has served on NYSARC’s corporate structure, guardianship and legal committees.


“Katharine is a true leader,” remarks Ric Swierat, Westchester Arc executive director. “Her reputation as an expert in elder law and estates makes her an extremely valuable asset to both Westchester Arc and NYSARC.”

Conroy is a partner in the law firm of Kent, Hazzard, Wilson, Conroy, Verni & Freeman, LLP, of White Plains. She is a graduate of Newton College of the Sacred Heart, Teachers College of Columbia University and Fordham Law School. 


Westchester Arc is the largest agency in the county serving people of all ages who have disabilities such as autistic spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.
