Educational Grants Support Career Ambitions

Resident Manager Barbara Colon knows how much difference a little financial help can make. Working toward a master’s degree, Barbara has used $7,000 in grants from the agency’s educational assistance program to cover tuition costs, buy books and pay off student loans.
As Barbara furthered her education, she advanced within Westchester Arc. Upon earning a B.A. in health administration last year, she was promoted from career planner to resident manager. Now she strives to become a clinical team leader.
“Going back to school wasn’t easy, but Westchester Arc was very encouraging. The agency truly wants its staff to succeed. I never thought I’d be a manager or going for my master’s, but here I am,” adds Barbara. “I’m very thankful to Westchester Arc and hope to work here for a very long time.”
Financial assistance is still available for staff members wishing to continue
