Margaret (Peggy) Mead works as a job placement specialist with a variety of people at Arc of Westchester. Here, she is pictured with Patsy Ginese, President of the Customer Services Council. Patsy, together with Peggy and Jordan Jankus, Hudson Valley's Regional Coordinator of The Self Advocacy Association of NYS, ensures that the voices of those we serve are heard by those at every level by the people who make decisions about the programs.

Peggy also coaches Joe, who is employed by a supermarket in Yonkers. She makes sure that Joe and his employer are both satisfied with the progress Joe makes at his job.
Through the years, Peggy has become close with Joe’s big family. His sister contacted Peggy when their mother passed away. She asked Peggy to break the news to Joe and comfort him. Peggy went far beyond this request and helped the family make all the necessary arrangements, driving them to the funeral parlor and helping with insurance details. Peggy chose a gift of food for the family in lieu of flowers. She knew there are a lot of small children in the family and felt food would be more appropriate when visitors came to pay their respects. So she stocked up at Cosco for the kind of food that would be comforting and nourishing. “People who need help should have help,” she says, and that is the motto she follows in her work.
Peggy has been part of the Arc of Westchester family for 24 years.
