Seventy cyclists peddled from New York to Vermont from June 8-10 for the annual Bresnan Bike Tour, raising over $200,000 for the Westchester Arc Foundation and Special Olympics New York-Hudson Valley Region. The tour is one the largest and most successful events of its kind, having brought in more then $3,125,000 since its inception in 1989.
Bikers overcame strong winds to complete the 200-mile tour. The physically demanding course included uphill climbs, exhilarating downhill stretches and many twists and turns. After riding 90 miles a day, they took comfort in charming New England inns. Cyclists also enjoyed beautiful weather and scenic country roads.

“The most amazing thing about the tour is the camaraderie. Everyone really goes out of their way to support one another, like family,” says tour volunteer Sonia Ramirez, a Westchester Arc job coach. “When one young biker, who was new to the event, doubted his ability to complete the course, the more seasoned cyclists took him under their wing. They rode alongside him for the rest of the tour and motivated him to reach the finish line.”

The tour raised over $200,000.
