Legislative Issues

We are advocates for the needs of individuals developmental disabilities.

Westchester Arc participates with several local, state and federal associations in an effort to educate members of the respective legislatures on issues of concern to persons with developmental disabilities and providers of services for such individuals. Issues which have been addressed in the past as part of these educational efforts include budgetary and financial needs, staffing, healthcare decision-making, estate planning and discrimination against persons with developmental disabilities. Westchester Arc undertakes these efforts in conjunction with such associations as The Arc of the U.S. on the federal level and NYSARC Inc. on the state level.
