PACDS

The Parent Assistance Committee on
Down Syndrome

Welcome!

The Parent Assistance Committee on Down Syndrome (PACDS) is a parent-led support network serving Westchester County, just north of New York City. We have all experienced the power of parent-to-parent understanding and support and are available to pass on that support and friendship to others.  We have a long history in Westchester, being founded in 1972, and still operate under the auspices of Westchester Arc, our parent agency.  Our families are available to provide:

  • Telephone calls, home or hospital visits to new parents
  • Information and resources, including a lending library
  • Suggestions about programs and services
  • Support meetings and activities for children, young adults and families

Some of our current activities include

  • Monthly parent/child group meeting for young families
  • Quarterly newsletter
  • Annual family picnic
  • Informational meetings for parents
