Dear Friends,

Westchester Arc has been an integral part of the fabric of Westchester County for over 55 years. We have assisted children and adults with developmental disabilities in maximizing their potential and becoming fully contributing members of our community.

Now we are undertaking an ambitious effort to ensure that we meet the challenges of the next 50 years.

We invite you to envision with us the possibilities that will result from a successful campaign. We envision a new building that will replace our current central site in White Plains and will provide a welcoming home for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families for generations to come. A home that is a haven, with opportunities for personal enrichment, planning, information and socializing. A home that is also a gateway to community participation and a fulfilling life.

We invite you to envision a secure financial future for the unique person-to-person programs and services that are the hallmark of Westchester Arc. Where our guardianship program can sustain itself and grow so that the people in our care can count on us to be there when they have no immediate family. Where our children’s school, which serves toddlers and pre-schoolers with developmental delays, and our recreational and career programs for young adults can be secure in the face of cutbacks in government support.

This capital campaign is the result of years of planning. Our strategic plan describes a vision for what this agency can be — and must be — to meet the challenges ahead. But continuing our leadership will require new resources and new commitments from Westchester Arc's family and friends. The reasons to support this campaign are spelled out here in our case statement.

A great organization influences those it has touched in myriad ways and across many experiences. We invite you to find your place in this landscape and think hard about how you can join us in building the surest foundation for Westchester Arc's future.

Sincerely,

Mohan Mehra, President, 2001-2006
