Westchester Arc provides guardianship services to individuals whose families can no longer care for them. |
Objective #2:
Fund for the Future
While a building may be a place for launching dreams, it is personalized services that directly support the goals of people with developmental disabilities at each stage of their lives. Therefore, Westchester Arc also plans to establish a long-term Fund for the Future to protect services that receive little or no financial support from the government. Some of the programs that rely on private funding are:
Guardianship:
We have ongoing commitments to serve in the place of family for people with disabilities who no longer have caregivers to assure the quality of their lives.
The Children’s School for Early Development:
For 50 years, this innovative school has been providing evaluation, education and specialized therapies for children from birth to age five.
Career Services:
Provides job training and coaching to people throughout their adult lives and works with business employers all over the county.
Recreation and Respite:
Westchester Arc provides a wide variety of services, including summer camp, a travel club, theater and art, life skills training and a Respite House so caregivers can take a break. All require funding from private donations to meet their costs.

Our aim is to ensure that these programs will
be available to future generations of people with disabilities and their families, regardless of any cutbacks in public or private funding.
We believe that now is the time for Westchester Arc to create a long-term funding strategy, a Fund for the Future, to ensure the necessary financial security for these important ongoing services and programs.
