On Sunday, August 16th, over 150 people attended the opening of the art show which offered music, ice cream and friendship among families from five Arcs in the region – Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Dutchess. Each Arc asked their students and consumers to submit art for this special event. The gallery is now adorned with 70 pieces of artwork. The gallery265 Committee selected ten pieces as finalists from which one was selected to be produced as a 60th anniversary US postal service stamp (click here to view the winning stamp). The full exhibit will remain up in the first floor gallery until late October.

| Westchester Arc Self-Advocate Bob Smith views the banner that will accompany Westchester Arc to Albany on September 17th. Guests were invited to write their own personal greetings commemorating this milestone. | |
Westchester Arc is also preparing for a 60th anniversary event in Albany called the “Walk to the Capitol Steps” on September 17th. This event will bring together Arcs from all over New York State to celebrate our anniversary and to remind our legislative representatives of the commitment and success of NYSARC chapters in promoting community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.
Westchester Arc is sending staff, self-advocates, families, and board members to participate in this event. If anyone is interested in participating and bringing a self-advocate to the event, please
